Before we look at a very busy sporting week I want to say thank you to all of the staff and children who were involved in last week’s sporting finals. The year 3/4 tennis teams came 4th in their regional finals whilst the year 1/2 football team went even better coming 2nd in their final after a penalty shootout.

This week is full of special sporting opportunities for all of the children in school thanks to the hard work of Mrs Saunderson who has arranged lots of visitors as part of our sports week. This includes our annual sports day which takes place on Monday 20th June starting at 1.15pm. We also need to thank ASDA for their on-going sponsorship of the event. They have provided water and fruit for all of the children taking part. Refreshments for parents will be provided by the friends.

First thing on Monday our yr1/2 athletics team will be representing Harrogate and District in the regional athletics final at the tournament in York.

On Wednesday we will be hosting the parents’ information evening for the new parents of children starting in September 2016. The evening starts at 6pm in the hall and is a chance for parents to meet with everyone who will be supporting their child in the next academic year.

Matthew Lunn will be visiting school on Thursday to lead our worship.

On Friday we welcome back Susie, our reading dog, who will be catching up with her readers.

I hope that everyone received their special Taylor Times ‘Space Edition’ which was printed on Friday. It was published to coincide with Tim Peake’s return to Earth on Saturday.

Thank you to Mrs Atkinson and the editors of the Taylor Times for all their hard work.

Finally I am delighted to announce that the school has been awarded ‘Gold Sports Status’ for the 2nd year running. This is a prestigious national award and Mrs Saunderson should be congratulated for her fantastic sports leadership this year. The updated logo will appear on our letters in the near future.

The photos below show last week’s year 1/2 football team in action.

Mr Symonds.
