Coverdale Blog

Maths:

In Coverdale we have been doing angles and quadrilaterals. In angles, we learnt about obtuse, acute, right, and reflex angles. We learnt that obtuse angles are more than 90 degrees, and less than 180 degrees, acute angles are more than 0 degrees, but less than 90 degrees. Right angles are exactly 90 degrees. Reflex angles are more than 180 degrees, but less than 360 degrees. We learnt about angles on shapes, also. Quadrilaterals are shapes with 4 equal sides. We’ve also learnt about triangles and their properties, Isosceles, equilateral, scalene, right angled triangles.

English:

In English we’ve been learning about the legend Beowulf. We received a letter from Beowulf’s father, Edgetheow. We had to read the letter then think about the questions and the things he said. Then we had to write a reply to his letter. We asked our own questions and replied to his questions. At the end of the letter we wrote a conclusion.

Art:

In art we made Anglo Saxons from cones that were from Captain Rummage. We made some hair made from wool, and then we drew a face to go on a newspaper ball. We also drew Saxons and the Mead Hall/Heorot. Next week we will be designing clothes for our cone Saxons!

Science:

We described a candle and its elements. Mrs Atkinson asked us to think of what we might do with the candle after half-term in a science lesson. We looked at the candle burn down and create liquid in the base of the candle. In our Sparkle Books, we wrote down questions about a candle.
