This week we welcomed back Mrs Jackson after her travels to New Zealand. It was lovely to hear some of her adventures form the other side of the world! She was excited tosee everyone and thought the children had all grown!

This week we started our study of famous people from the past by learning about Grace Darling and her famous rescue of the Forfarshire ship in the stormy waters of Northumberland and we discussed why she was a heroine.

We have started new maths topics of money and have been reading thermometers. We have been thinking about Lent and what we can do as Christians in this special time to be closer to God… Daniel has decided to read more books and Jake is going to help his sister more and Natasha is going to stop eating chocolate for Lent. Good luck to everyone with all your personal challenges – remember to be resilient to succeed!

In art we are looking at textures and patterns and created seed art pictures. We continued our science topic on materials by exploring if materials are opaque, transparent or translucent.

Hot of the press…. Well done to our Year 2 football team who are through to the next round. They showed great resilience in terrible wet and cold weather. Thank you to Mrs Saunderson for driving the mini bus and being the manager.
