I am writing at the end of the week with an update regarding the school’s preparation for a partial re-opening on Monday 1st June. I would firstly like to thank all of the parents who have responded swiftly to our survey of those targeted pupil cohorts. This has helped us in understanding the initial number of children that we are being asked to support.

Following a week of careful planning the government provided further guidance to schools at 7pm last night. The update identified some significant changes to the framework that the school needs to work within when considering the way in which it will structure the safe phased re-opening of school to certain age groups.

Managing the process of safely opening school to staff and children within government guidelines whilst ensuring a 15 pupil maximum in clearly identified class bases is a complex and challenging process. It is vital that we make sure that our planning considers and clearly addresses all of the concerns regarding the safety and wellbeing of children and staff.

At RTS we are determined to create the plan which allows us to begin the journey back to full opening in a way which is safe and sustainable as we move through each phase of the process. Following further work in the coming days we will provide all parents with the plan which explains how and when the first identified year groups will begin their phased return. It will hopefully answer the many questions which I am sure you will have.

I appreciate your patience and support as we work to complete the road map to reopening which places the safety and wellbeing of every child and member of staff as its highest priority. I will provide further details before the end of next week.

Yours sincerely,

Andrew Symonds
