Last week was full of special events and nice surprises. It was wonderful to welcome the newly appointed Bishop of Ripon, Bishop Helen-Ann to RTS on Friday afternoon. It was her first day in post and a real honour for the school that she came to visit us; I have added a photo below of her visit.

On Friday, as part of our day of remembrance the children in KS2 had the privilege of hearing a descendent of William Coltman, the most decorated soldier of WW1, talk to the children about his life as a stretcher bearer and his Christian faith.

On to this week; the first of a series of Bikeability training courses will start with the first sessions on Monday and Tuesday. Also on Monday we welcome Rev Alan Crump to school; Alan is the new United Reform Church Minister, and will be leading worship in school for the first time.

After school on Monday it is the Friends Film Night for Dentdale and Ribblesdale Classes.

On Tuesday we welcome Claire Bassingdale from St Aidan’s to lead PE sessions for classes in the morning.

After school on Wednesday it is week two of the Yr5/6 football event at HHS; the team is unbeaten after week one. Also at 6pm in the Hall Mr Richard Wilton will be holding his music demo for all children interested in learning a woodwind or brass instrument in school; parents are welcome to come along where you can talk to Richard and the children can have a try on the instruments.

It is week two of the chess club after school on Thursday.

Friday is another big day in school when the children will be taking part in the school’s annual Pudsey Bear Penny Picture for Children in Need; please hunt out those pennies and send them in on Friday. We are even hoping the Pudsey Bear himself will be making and appearance on the day.

The photos below include last week’s yellow jumper winners as well as photos from our special visitors in school.

Best wishes

Andrew Symonds
