I hope by now that everyone will have received and read a copy of the COVID-19 letter, which was sent to all parents at the end of last week. You will see that a number of planned events have been postponed as we seek to play our part in reducing the risk of possibly spreading the viral infection with the wider community. I will obviously keep everyone updated regarding the advice given to schools with the intention of remaining open for all children for as long as possible.

You will notice that certain clubs have cancelled this week; the decision regarding each event is taken on a club-by-club basis depending on the numbers involved and where the club takes place. There are two activities taking place this week, which involve visits to the Mercer Art Gallery and Harrogate Theatre respectively. Currently both activities are due to take place but we will keep all parents informed if the situation changes.

The decision has been taken to cancel choir on Monday; this is our largest after school activity with the greatest risk of transfer at the handover point. Mrs Brownbridge is one of the volunteers that we are protecting by asking to stay away from school over the next couple of weeks.

The year six SATS meeting for parents, due to take place on Tuesday 17th March has been postponed; staff are currently preparing an information handout, which will be shared with everyone when completed.

We hope that the water safety talks for all classes will take place on Monday and that the drama club performance at Harrogate Theatre will continue on Wednesday

Thursday morning should see Coverdale class taking the opportunity to visit the Mercer Gallery and enjoy the Turner Exhibition.

Unfortunately, we have had problems with vandals on the school site over the last two weekends. The police are fully aware and are actively seeking to identify the youths causing us problems. If you see anything unusual, please contact the police using 111 to share information and help us to keep unwanted visitors off our site.

Let us end on a positive note, last week saw everyone enjoy an amazing series of science experiences. One of the photos below show our science ambassadors leading a whole school worship time. Other photos include our gardening club during their first visit to Mr Groves and the children enjoying the Sport Relief Fun Run on Friday.
