The last full week of term begins with an update on our year 5/6 rounder’s team who participated in the regional finals at the Grammar School last week. Competition was incredibly tough and the children performed brilliantly winning a couple of their games before finally finishing in 6th place. Thank you to both Mrs Saunderson and Mrs Warburton for their hard work in organising and accompanying the team.

Congratulations to the children in Airedale class who received a very special letter from the Queen last week. They had sent her majesty a birthday card to celebrate her 90th birthday earlier in the term and they received a very special card of their own thanking them.

This week is full of special visitors. On Monday we have Mr Ward, a parent, coming in to speak to the children about a very special journey that he is about to embark on, look out for further news on Monday. In the afternoon, Hannah Starling, who completed in the London 2012 Olympics as a diver will be visiting the school to talk about her experiences as an Olympic athlete.

On Tuesday Simon will be leading his final worship of the year for the whole school. After school starting at 6pm is the Summer Choir and Orchestra Concert which is always a fantastic occasion. After school on Thursday the year 6 photography club will be holding an exhibition of their work in the library. It will last from 3.15 to 4pm and I would recommend calling in to see the children’s work, you will be stunned by the quality of their work.

On Friday Lynne and her team in the kitchen’s will be serving the leavers’ lunch to our year six pupils. Mrs Crisell has invited a special guest into her worship. Sarah Fox, the nationally renowned opera singer who will be speaking to the children.

The photograph below shows last week’s yellow jersey winners and the children enjoying their picnic lunch on Wednesday last week.

A Symonds
