I need to start the week by thanking Mrs Fleming and all of the children who worked so hard on the school’s entry to this year’s Harrogate Flower Festival. Their entry was a globe telling people about succulent plants from around the world. If you visited the show you may have seen our fantastic exhibit.

I would also like to thank everyone who attended last week’s Friends meeting on Tuesday. It was a very positive meeting which was very well attended. Look out for further Friends’ news about upcoming events including the Macmillan Coffee Morning.

This week is a busy one for our new starters who will be in school full time for the first time. We also welcome a number of student teacher’s from St Aidan’s who will be experiencing life in a primary school. On Monday Coverdale Class will begin their Bio Project with Mrs Christy; the project will continue through the year and will involve field work where the children will be studying a local habitat to record the changes that take place.

On Tuesday we welcome Mr Green to lead our worship; it is also the date of the first school council meeting of the year.

On Wednesday Nidderdale and Swaledale Classes will be holding their first ‘Big RE’ session of the year.

Finally on Friday we welcome the Friends’ Prayer Group to school at 2pm in the staffroom; anyone is welcome to join the group or to leave a prayer in the prayer box situated in the entrance hall.

The photos below show last week’s yellow jumper winners and the school’s new worship ambassadors proudly wearing their badges.

The theme for worship this week is respect and the question being covered is ‘Why do we need to be responsible with the gifts and talents that God has given us?’
