Thank you to everyone who has supported our Fairtrade 90kg rice challenge; the response has been fantastic with 70kg sold already and just 20kg to go. If we can sell all of our bags before the Easter break we will have raised enough money to pay for the education of a rice farmers child. The children have had a great time learning about the work of fairtrade last week. Look out for photos of some of the decorated doors and fairtrade cakes that Bob tasted as part of our great fairtrade bake off; prizes will be awarded this week.

Congratulations to James Simpson who was the winner of the Woodfield and Bilton Library bookmark design competition.

The penultimate week of the spring term is a very busy one which starts with our ‘Hatch It’ eggs arriving on Monday; with any luck we should have the first of our chicks born in the next few days. Monday also sees week eight of our sports numeracy programme. After our Super Pupil worship time on Monday the Drama Club will be walking to Harrogate Theatre where they will be rehearsing to perform to family and friends on the studio stage after school. Also after school Mrs Saunderson and Mrs Warburton will be taking our Hockey team to Harrogate High School for this year’s tournament.

Tuesday is our big fundraising event of the term with the annual bunny bounce taking place in the hall, please remember to return your child’s sponsor form to school for Tuesday. After school our choir will be practicing for their Easter Concert at St Aidan’s High School on Tuesday 27th March starting at 6pm.

On Wednesday Swaledale and Nidderdale Classes will travel back in time to enjoy their Egyptian Day. Also on Wednesday our Sports Ambassadors will be holding a Wake Up Shake Up event in the hall from 9am as part of our participation in Sports Relief 2018; parents are welcome to join in. After school it is week three of Dodgeball at Harrogate High School whilst back at school TAG Rugby Club and Netball Club will take place.

Thursday after school it is Chess Club with Mr Mick Stokes, good luck to all the children who are taking part in the Harrogate Chess Championships at St Aidan’s this Saturday morning.

Friday is all about out great Sport Relief Fun Run. It is a non-uniform day with the children’s £1 donation going to the work of Sport Relief. Children and staff will be running around the school for charity. If you are an eager runner parents can join the fun from 9am; just bring your running shoes.

Next week sees the school building up to the festival of Easter with lots of activities taking place including our Easter Service on Thursday 29th March at 10am at St John’s Church.

The photographs below show the winners of last week’s yellow jumper award as well as some of the images from fairtrade fortnight and the winners of this year’s Bilton Library Bookmark Design Competition.
