This is the last blog of what has been a very busy and successful first half term. This week is a very busy one for everyone at school as we look forward to welcoming parents to school for our consultation evenings on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Parents of our new starters in EYFS will be making their consultation bookings for after half term.

With building work ongoing entrance to school on both evenings will be through Bishopdale Classroom. We are avoiding the school hall to ensure that the after school club can have secure access to the external doors. If you are not sure where to find Bishopdale it is the early years classroom at the front of the school, we will be adding signs to help everyone to find their way in on both days.

We need to start the week by saying well done to Dentdale Class who last week raised the amazing total of £256 pounds for the Indonesian Crisis Appeal by selling cakes to the rest of the school. The children themselves showed real determination to help others in need and I congratulate them for the fantastic job that they did.

Last week was full of wonderful experiences with the LEGO day and our global story teller. Look out for lots of photos on the school website.

This week sees the rest of the children in year six completing bikeability training on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday afternoon the children from Coverdale will be working with the rotary club to plant crocus bulbs on the stray as part of their project to eradicate polio globally.

On Wednesday we are delighted to welcome the inspirational speaker Ben Davis to school. Ben will be talking to all of the children from yr2 upwards about his experiences running the entire perimeter of Yorkshire to raise money for a charity that supports mental health. This is part of our programme of educating children about the importance of good mental health and wellbeing.

School will finish at 3.15 as normal on Thursday and school is closed on Friday for staff training. This Friday staff have a busy day ahead as they complete training on safeguarding, prevention and growth mindset.

School reopens on Monday 5th November for the 2nd half of the autumn half term. I hope that you all have a wonderful half term.
