Well done to all of the children who attended the Harrogate School’s Chess Championships on Saturday morning. The event saw schools from all over Harrogate taking part at RTS. The children all played brilliantly but special mention must go to Lucas Connell who won the best player of the event trophy and went the whole morning unbeaten.

This is another very busy week at RTS as we approach the Christmas Season, particularly for everyone in key stage one as they prepare for their nativity performances.

On Monday we welcome a very special visitor to school when the Mayor of Harrogate is visiting us to tell the children what he does as Mayor. On Tuesday we welcome the Rev Alan Crump who will be leading our Tuesday worship.

Wednesday sees the children from Swaledale Class visiting the York Chocolate Story whilst after school many of them will be taking part in week three of the Sporting Influence Football event at Harrogate High School. Lats week the children did really well winning two of their matches and playing fantastically well as a team.

Thursday is the start of the festive events at RTS when some of the choir will be performing at Fodder where they have been invited to sing at 6pm. At 7pm in St John’s Church the Friends ‘Fizz and Shopping’ will be taking place for mums, dads and grandparents. Tickets are still available from the school office for £2.50. The event starts at 7pm and I hope to see many of you there.

Friday is the annual ‘non-uniform’ day for the Chocolate Tombola at the Christmas Fair next week. There is no theme and all we ask is that children bring some chocolate in for the stall.

Looking ahead to next week on Monday 2nd December we will be having our Advent Service at St John’s Church at 4.30pm. It begins with a lantern lit procession from School at 4pm; everyone is welcome to come along and share in what is always a very special service. The children invited to participate in the procession and service will receive letters this week but everyone is welcome to attend.

Please remember that Friday 6th December is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the friends with the Christmas Fair taking place after school.

I am also delighted to say that I successfully completed the 5k Santa fun run in Skipton last Sunday. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me so generously. The photo below can be taken as evidence and I will be wearing my medal on Monday. Sponsorship money can be handed in to the school office; I look forward to letting everyone know the total in due course.
