The last week of term is a very busy one with lots happening on every day.
Last week I missed the majority of the fun due to a nasty case of tonsillitis but I will be back to enjoy the last week before the Easter break; I do know that the chicks which arrived on Monday last week have all hatched out and are doing well. They will all stay with us until Thursday when they will be collected and returned to the farm to live a very happy life.
On Monday and Tuesday this week Ryan from Sporting influence will be in school to complete the sports numeracy programme for children in year 3 and 4. On Monday afternoon all of the children will be taking part in our whole school RE ‘Shine and Share’ afternoon. The theme for this term is the people Jesus met in Holy Week and children from all classes will work together before sharing what they have learnt with the rest of the school.
Tuesday morning sees the children in KS1 take part in their Easter Activity Day; during the day they will follow the events of Holy Week with a range of practical activities. In the afternoon we will welcome special visitors from the community to our spring community tea from 2pm. The children in year five will host the event and our visitors will also be entertained by our choir. After school our choir will be joining other choirs from across the MAT to participate in a special Easter Service of songs and readings at St Aidan’s starting at 6pm. All are welcome to join us for what will be a very special event.
On Wednesday some of the children from Wharfedale and Wensleydale will be joining the congregation at St John’s for the midweek Eucharist at 10.30am; joining the service allows the children to learn more about the importance of the sharing of bread and wine to Christians. Also on Wednesday the children will be enjoying their Easter Lunch before a special time of quiet reflection in the afternoon. Every class will offer something that they are sorry for. The service is a very special one which is combined with some beautifully sung Easter songs. After school on Wednesday children from KS2 will be participating in the Harrogate District Orienteering Competition; good luck to all our teams.
Maundy Thursday is the final day of the spring term; at 10am we will hold our Easter Service at St John’s, everyone is welcome to join us. In the afternoon we will have time to celebrate the upcoming wedding of Mr Starkey who is tying the knot over the Easter Break, we wish him all the best for his special day.
Please remember that we finish at 2.15pm on Thursday and reopen on Tuesday 17th April.
There are no photos due to my absence last week but I will seek to add some this week.
Have a wonderful Easter Break
