It is difficult to know where to start with one of the busiest weeks of the year ahead of us.

This week is Sports Week 2017 which starts on Monday afternoon with our annual Sports Day. The forecast is looking promising and I look forward to seeing you all at one of the highlights of the year.

During Sports Week the children will also enjoy athletics, rounders, tennis, toukball, rugby, dance and judo! Thanks to Mrs Saunderson and Mrs Warburton for all of their hard work in organising the events of this week. I am delighted to announce that the school has been awarded the Gold Sports Award for the third year in a row for the quality of sports provision in school. We also need to thank the community team at ASDA for sponsoring our pupil refreshments at Sports Day and to all of the Friends who will be working hard to provide refreshments for everyone during the afternoon.

The rest of the week is no less busy. We welcome Mr Green to lead our worship on Tuesday afternoon. At 2.30pm some of our year 5 children will be heading to Harrogate High School to enjoy science experiments in their brand new science labs. This is the first of 3 trips and should be great fun. There is a scientific flavour to the rest of the week with a number of year 5/6 children accompanying Mrs Harrison to an Inspirations Science Day on Thursday whilst, at the same time, Mrs Crisell has been invited to present the results of some of our some of our fantastic science projects at a European Schools Science Conference in Hungary.

On Wednesday we welcome some of our new starters to Airedale and Bishopdale Classes when they make their first visits to school. On Thursday we also welcome Miss Sherwood, who will be joining us in Ribblesdale Class next year.

Friday is just as busy with the children in year six visiting the Crucial Crew event in the afternoon.

Finally, congratulations to Katie Hawkes and Jovi Henningham Smith who won the St John’s Fair Poster Competition and were presented with their prizes last Thursday by Mr Scarisbrick.

The photographs below show Jovi and Katie receiving their prizes and Elise who won the yellow jersey award for Dentdale last week.
