I hope that everyone managed to enjoy their half term, the weather is beginning to feel a lot more autumnal.

The photos below are some of the wonderful ‘Happy Pumpkins’ which each of the classes carved on the last day of term. Thanks again to Angela Smith at ASDA for donating the pumpkins to school.

This week starts with important staff training on Monday. On Tuesday we have the first school council meeting of the half term at 1pm. In the afternoon the children from Coverdale class have been given the chance to help the Rotary Club plant thousands of crocus bulbs on the stray during the afternoon, returning to school before the end of the day.

On Wednesday PCSO Nick Wood will be in school to collect the Road safety Poster designs created by the children from Yr5/6. After school is the last street dance and bikeability sessions. Ten children from yr1/2 will be attending a sports agility event and Harrogate Grammar School with Mrs Phelan.

After school on Thursday Mrs Crisell will start her Archaeology club with children from KS2.

The week ends with a very special ‘Dress as a Pirate’ day to celebrate the fund raising achievements of Mr Mark Ward who sailed from York to Whitby to raise funds for school. He will be coming into school to talk to the children about his journey and he has donated his plastic bottle boat for the children in KS1 to play with.

Also on Friday some of the classes in KS2 will experience a taste of the future as Google Expeditions will be working with them using high tech headgear.

On Saturday Mr Starkey and myself will be going on a special space expedition of our own when we accompany children to York University where they will get the chance to present their work to Tim Peake himself. Look out for photos!!

Finally, look out for more information on our reading week which starts on Monday 7th November and which will include our reading evening for new parents on Tuesday 8th Nov and the school book fair on Thursday 10th November.

A busy start to the new half term!

A Symonds
