Thank you to everyone who participated in our first ever virtual sports day at Richard Taylor School. The response was outstanding with over 85% of the school participating all over Bilton and beyond. Congratulations to Team Determination who won with 2245 points. The four top performers in each team were also awarded a special trophy; they were Sophie Bjelan: Team Determination. James Wilkinson: Team Trust. Cameron Murdoch: Team Respect and Elsa Partridge: Team Friendship. The organisation of this event was a huge job and we would like to thank Mrs Saunderson, Mrs Warburton and Debbie Speed from the Harrogate Sports Partnership for taking it on.

Thank you to everyone who responded to our request to make space for the Year 6 children to return to school for their last week. Thanks to the wonderful generosity of those who were able to help we are delighted to say that we will be seeing our Year 6 pupils on Tuesday 14th July back at RTS. Letters of Instruction for all children will be sent out early this week to make sure everyone in school knows which group they will be joining for the last week of the year.

You will know by now that the Government has finally published its guide for the new school year which starts in September 2020. We are delighted that we will be able to see all age groups back in school; there are, as you can imagine a significant number of safety guidelines which we will have to consider when organising the structure of the school. We will be working hard to prepare a guide to parents which we will publish before the end of term. We will follow this with an update to all families before the start of the new academic year.

This is another busy week at RTS. At the end of the week we will be e mailing all families with their child’s end of year report as well as details of their class for September 2020. The new classes will have access to their new seesaw platform from Monday on which their new teachers will introduce themselves and welcome everyone in readiness for the next school year. We will also be publishing the latest newsletter at the start of the week.

The focus for learning this week is music, Mrs Wake will be leading a special musical Wednesday worship which I hope that you will all enjoy.

Please remember that Monday 13th July is a staff training day and the school will be closed to all children, thank you.
