Summer Newsletter 1

Dear Parents

Welcome back to the start of the Summer Term. There is already a lot of information to share with everyone, covering the end of the Spring Term and the Summer Term ahead.

Sport Relief

The fun run around the school which took place on Friday 18th March was a great success. The combined distance run by all of the children and a few of the staff was an incredible 453.9 miles, which was enough to take us up to the space station and nearly home for tea. The total raised was £198.20.

Wear a Hat Day

The Easter bonnet day, to raise awareness of brain tumour research was a great success, all of the winners received their prizes at the end of term and photos should appear shortly on the website. The donation made means that we have raised £22.00 for the work of the brain tumour trust.

Friends Events

Thanks to all of the Friends who helped with the Easter Bunny Bounce. The total has yet to be announced but will bring in valuable funds to spend on a number of projects this term. The champion Bunny Bouncer was Jack Everson from Coverdale class with an incredible 175 bounces. Please return the sponsor forms and money to the office this week.

I am delighted to announce that the Friends have been successful with their application to take part in the Knaresborough Bed Race on Saturday 11th June, look out for more ways that you can support our team. Finally, Monday 2nd May is Bilton Gala Day on the school field. If you are coming along, please support the Friends Chocolate Tombola stall.

Sports News

Congratulations to both of our netball teams who took part in the Year 5/6 High Five Netball Tournament at Harrogate Grammar School, before the break. The A and B teams were in 2 different groups, both teams performed well and came third in each group. Thank you to all of the staff and parents who supported the teams.

Sports Day 2016

This is an important date for many parents, please note, this year Sports Day will take place on the afternoon of Monday 20th June. This is much earlier than usual. The date has changed so that Sports Day can be part of a special Sports Week with many other events planned for the children during the week.

Assessment Information Evening

There have been a huge number of changes in the way in which children are assessed in primary schools. To help parents understand these changes we will be holding an information evening for parents on Tuesday 26th April at 6.00 p.m. Staff from each class will be available on the night to explain what assessment will look like for your child. We will create an information leaflet for all parents who are unable to attend.

SATs Week

The key date is the week beginning Monday 9th May, if you have children in Year 6 please make a note of this date. If for any reason your child is unwell during this week, please contact the school at the earliest opportunity.

New Clergy

Everyone at school warmly welcomes Reverend Andrew Patrick who takes up his post at St. Luke’s at the start of this term. We look forward to welcoming him to school on many occasions during the Summer Term.
