Photography Exhibition 2016.
After school on Thursday 21st July the school’s Year 6 photography club will be holding an exhibition of their work in the school library. During the year they have been learning the art of photography and using the school’s digital cameras they have produced a collection of work which they are very proud of and would like to show before they leave. I can guarantee that you will be very impressed by the quality of the work produced and would recommend that you take the time to call into the library and have a look.
Mr Lever, a parent and professional photographer, who has helped the school with the production of our new brochure will also be at the exhibition and will be showing some of his work.
The exhibition will take place after school on Thursday 21st between 3.15pm and 4pm.
Possible After School Cycling Club – starting September
We are hoping to host an after school club from September for Years 4 and 5 children wanting to improve their cycling skills. It will be run by a qualified and insured and DBS checked instructor who runs Bikeability courses for children across the region. The children will remain in the playground, so will not be on the roads attaining their Bikeability certificates, but they will learn about safety, co-ordination, balance and skills in a fun way playing games on their bikes. Bikes will have to be of a safe standard (they will be checked at the first session) and children will need to wear helmets.
We are offering the course to Years 4 and 5 because in the summer term of Year 6 the children receive the free 2 day Bikeability training from North Yorkshire County Council. We think however that children are using their bikes before Year 6 and would benefit from this training.
The cost of the course would be £4.00 per week approximately, so £24 for the Autumn half term. We would like to gauge interest amongst parents, to see if we should run the course or not. If it is popular, we will run it again in the Summer Term 2017.
