Ribblesdale Blog

English

Ribblesdale in English have been creating their own stories based on ‘Handas Surprise’ using what they have learnt like full stops, capital letters, finger spaces, adjectives and lots more. Every day the whole class does phonics and the year 2 do SPAG. Most days the year 1 have a word of the day following their phonic rule. They have also being practising leading flicks to help them do joined up writing at a later date.

Maths

In maths the year 2 children have been doing times and dividing by 10, 5 and 2. The year 1 children have been practicing their place value of 2 digit numbers.

Science

The children have some special visitors in their class room to help them with science which at the moment is plants and animals. The creatures are tadpoles and worms which Ribblesdale are watching grow and develop through different their stages.

St George’s Day

On Monday they had a whole day celebrating saint George. They made flags, dragons, biscuits, shields, swords and cucumber sandwiches. Yum! Yum! They joined up with the other KS1 classes to do these activities. All the classes sang the national anthem and learnt about British values.
