This blog covers the last 2 days of the school year. On Monday morning our Yr6 will be visiting St John’s Church for their final rehearsal prior to the leavers’ service on Tuesday. At Lunchtime the children from Yr6 will be enjoying their leaver’s lunch in the hall. After lunch we will be holding a special worship time to celebrate Mrs Heard’s maternity leave and Miss Hatfield’s wedding.

On Tuesday the special leavers’ service at St John’s will start at 10.30am; everyone is welcome to join us for what is always a very emotional celebration. After the service the rest of the school will form the archway to cheer the Yr6 children back to school. In the afternoon, weather permitting, we will hold our annual yr6 vs staff rounder’s match before finishing for the summer holidays.

The year six have been a fantastic cohort during their time at RTS. They have represented the school brilliantly and will be greatly missed as they move on to high school.

This year sees a number of members of the school community leaving alongside the children in Yr6. Mrs Ritchie is leaving Ribblesdale and will be hugely missed for her pastoral care. Lynne and Amanda leave the kitchen team; the chicken korma may never be the same again! Mrs Heard is allowed to leave us for her maternity leave but will be re-joining us following the birth of her 2nd child. We are blessed at RTS with having a fantastically talented and committed staffing team who are all looking forward to a well-earned summer break I do want to say a special word regarding Mrs Harrison who is retiring after 33 years at the school.

At her special leaving celebration at RTS there were lots of photographs which were revealed to embarrass Mrs Harrison; they certainly showed that fashions have changed since 1984. They also reflect the fact that Mrs Harrison has been a teacher at the heart of everything that is special about the school over the years. My own association with the school has come in two stints and I have been fortunate on both occasions to have been able to work with and learn from Mrs Harrison. The tears shed and the number of parents who waited to see Mrs Harrison after school on Friday shows the huge esteem with which she is held by everyone at RTS and especially myself. She is ,and always will be, woven into the fabric of the school and will hopefully be a welcome and regular visitor to the school for many years to come.

Thank you to everyone for your help and support over what has been a very successful year. We have achieved fantastic academic results and been given a wonderful Ofsted report. I hope that you all have a super summer break and remember the school opens for business again on Tuesday 5th September 2017.

The photos below show the last yellow jumper winners of the year as well as some of the staff who will be leaving us.

Some of Mrs Mc Harrison’s gifts reflect her love of Scotland. I hope she will eventually speak to me again after putting this photo on the blog!
