We have had such an exciting week and a half back at school. We have been reading our new class story Beegu which we have all really enjoyed! We will be working on this story for the next couple of weeks,

In maths, Year 1 have been continuing their hard work on place value. It is vital that at this young age children develop a good understanding of the number system to support them in their mathematical growth. It is very tricky but our fantastic Year 1’s have been working so hard and having a lot of success!
Our Year 2’s have been working on word problems. Working out what the question is asking us to do has been very tricky, but we are slowly gaining confidence as we continue to try our best at these types of problems.

We are moving on with our class topic. The children are now working in groups to create a presentation poster on a famous person of their choosing. I am very excited to see what they have all come up with, and learning about the classes favourite famous people!

I hope you have all enjoyed having some fun in the snow this week! Whilst we are in school, please do ensure your children are suitably dressed. This means all children do need a jumper or cardigan, and please no shorts or Summer dresses! For outside, I recommend a change of footwear, a warm coat, hat, scarf and gloves.

As we have had 2 days off this week, and on Friday we changed our learning to build on the children’s excitement of the snow, I will not be sending new homework or spellings out this week.
We will do our spellings next week instead.

Many thanks for your continued support,

Miss Sherwood.
