Blog

This week we have been pleased with how our games were enjoyed at the Christmas Fair. All of our hard work seemed to have paid off and all the younger children went home really excited after the fair had ended.

In maths, we have been learning how to simplify fractions and also how to compare them. We have learnt many different ways of doing this, for example, draw it, compare it to a half or find a common denominator. That means to find the lowest number that is in both of the denominator’s times tables, for example which is larger? ¾ or 4/5. So, you can find the lowest possible number that is in both the numbers times tables – which is 20 and find equivalent fractions that both have the denominator of 20. When we have worked this out, we know that 4/5 is larger of the two fractions.

For homework, we have been given mental maths, spellings, reading 5 times and a prefix presents sheet.

On Tuesday, we went into the hall to see the KS1 Nativity which was great, everyone performed amazingly.

This week has been brilliant as always in Wharfedale.

Tomorrow we are having our Christmas lunch and Christmas Jumper Day to raise money for children in need. Children are allowed to wear full non uniform and a Christmas jumper.
