By Macey and Libby

In Wharfedale this week we have been working very hard to impress Mrs Saunderson. We have started our topic of Wall E. We were also very naughty this week by writing on the window!

Literacy

In Literacy we have been looking at making notes on a film extract. We watched approximately 15 minutes of the film and made notes about it in our jotters. We had a sheet of paper, which had some questions on, and we had to answer the questions. The questions included things that you could see in the film. An example would be: What could Wall-E see, hear and smell. We also read a piece of text. Using a highlighter we picked out special features. We gave each paragraph subheadings. Some of us got to write our ideas on the window, but they will wipe off.

Maths

This week in Maths we have been comparing and ordering decimals or whole numbers. Spheres, Pyramid and Cubes were ordering money, which if you take away the pound sign it is basically decimals. Prisms were also ordering decimals. On Tuesday, we worked on rounding whole numbers. Mrs Saunderson taught us a rhyme that said, “1, 2, 3 and 4 round down to the number before and 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 round up to the next 10 on the washing line.” We rounded to the nearest 10, 100, 1000 and 10000. On Wednesday, Spheres, Pyramids and Cubes were multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000. However, Prisms did a problem called The Deca Tree, where they had to work out how many leaves there was left after the woodcutter came.

Class Reps

On Thursday, we chose our class reps. Our School Council reps are: Macey and Anya. Our Fairtrade reps are: George R. Our Eco Experts are: Lucy and Kezia.
