Thank you to everyone for their kind donation of food for our Harvest Festival last week. Half of our donations will go to the Harrogate Foodbank; the other half has already been distributed to the elderly in the local community.

Whilst the weather forecast suggests that we are heading towards winter there is lots to look forward to this week.

On Monday and Tuesday the children in year six will be taking part in the Bikeability ‘cycling programme’. On Monday morning we welcome Claire Bassingdale from St Aidan’s to work with some of our classes in their PE lessons. After school our year 3 and year 4 football team will be taking part in the school sports partnership tournament at St John Fisher’s High School.

The Friends will be holding their Christmas Fair planning meeting at The Knox Arms on Monday starting at 7pm. Please go along if you would like to get involved in the biggest fundraiser of the school year.

Monday also sees us celebrate the latest super pupils chosen by each class.

Tuesday is a very special day for all of the children in school. Every class will have the opportunity to take part in our whole school Lego Day funded by the friends of the school, look out for lots of photographs on the school website. Tuesday is also the day of the latest Bags2Schools collection, if you have any bags that you want to donate please drop them off on Monday.

On Wednesday the children in Dentdale Class will be having a cake sale for key stage one children. The class wanted to do something to help children affected by the Indonesian Crisis and agreed to work together to make a difference. After school on Wednesday is the last session for our year 3 & 4 footballers at Harrogate High School.

On Thursday the Environmental Ambassadors will be having a meeting and leading our class worship. By doing this they will have completed their project to earn a Gold Award from the Woodland Trust which is a very special achievement.

Friday is a busy end to the week. During the afternoon all of the children will enjoy the visit of a global storyteller who will entertain the school with tales from around the world as part of our participation in black history month. Friday afternoon also sees the latest Friends Prayer Group Meeting from 2.30pm in the staffroom. At 2.45pm Bob will join us for tea and cakes with children chosen for their good manners and behaviour.

Thank you to everyone who supported our participation in World Mental Health Awareness Day last Wednesday, look out for photographs on the website.

Congratulations to the Choir who performed brilliantly at the Harvest Feast at St John’s Church last Saturday.

Next week is our first Parent’s Consultation Evening for Children between Yr1 and Yr6. Parents of our new starters will have their longer consultations after half term. Entrance to school during Parent’s evening will be through Bishopdale Class.

Photographs below show the yellow jumper winners, a harvest festival photo as well as some of the photos taken on Wellbeing Day 2018.

Finally I have been asked to remind people of the need to park considerately around school; the roads are busier due to our ongoing building work and so it is even more important that everyone takes their time to find a safe place to park.
