Before we celebrate the busy week ahead I would like to thank everyone who supported both our book sale on Thursday and Pudsey fundraising on Friday. I look forward to letting everyone know both totals next week. I would also like to congratulate our Tag Rugby Team who performed brilliantly on Friday last week and were only beaten in the final. Their behaviour, teamwork and sportsmanship were all outstanding!

This week sees the start of national road safety week and so we are delighted to welcome PCSO Will Champion to school on Monday who will be talking to the children about staying safe during the dark winter morning and evenings. We also welcome Claire Bassingdale from St Aidan’s who will be leading PE sessions for some of our classes on Monday morning.

Monday afternoon is our whole school ‘Shine and Share’ afternoon where all of the children work collaboratively and creatively on Big RE projects. After school the Friends are having their latest cake sale and after school our lantern building club will be having its first meeting to build the lanterns for our Advent service in 2 weeks’ time.

On Tuesday we welcome Rev Simon Dowson to lead our worship and look forward to seeing Mrs Styles return to work after her broken ankle. We are also pleased to welcome Mr Simon Sloane, our diocesan advisor who is visiting the school.

Wednesday sees Dr Jan Johnson, our SEN governor leading worship as she introduces the Christingle Service and the work of the Children’s Society to our children. After school on Wednesday our yr5/6 footballers will be taking part in week three of the football event at Harrogate High School.

On Thursday afternoon a small group of year 6 children will make their first visit to the St Luke’s Wellbeing Café where they will spend time with the volunteers who support the project , the café is Dementia friendly. The aim is to give the children an ideal opportunity to develop links with those people living in their community and encourage responsibility and independence, all qualities we share in the schools Christian values.

After school on Thursday it is week three of our chess club; this Saturday morning the school is proud to be hosting the Harrogate School’s Chess Championships in which we hope to have two teams entered.

The week ends with special science workshops for children in year 5 & 6 on Friday afternoon.

The photos below show last week’s yellow jumper wearers and our fantastic TAG Rugby Team.
