We have almost made it to the end of our first half term, Thank you to everyone who attended our first parents’ evening of the year and who completed our questionnaire. The box will remain in the entrance hall until the end of half term so there is still time to complete and return your form.

Before we look forward to another busy week we need to celebrate the achievements of our fantastic year 5/6 indoor athletics team who came 2nd in their competition last Monday. This means that we have qualified for the regional finals which will be held at St John Fisher’s School after half term; thank you to Mrs Warburton and Mrs Saunderson for organising and leading such a large team. I would also like to congratulate the children who received high praise for their excellent behaviour as well as their sporting talent.

There are lots of trips and visits taking place in the week ahead. On Monday Swaledale Class will be visiting Beningbrough Hall as part of their Victorians Topic; Nidderdale Class will be visiting Beningbrough Hall on Wednesday. Also on Monday a number of children from across key stage 2 will be visiting Betty’s Cookery School with Mrs Simpson to learn how to bake bread, this is a real treat and I look forward to seeing the results of their efforts. For the rest of the children in key stage 2 Monday morning will see them visit the newly refurbished Methodist Chapel on the Skipton road. We have been invited by Roberta and Matthew to have a look at the new building and to investigate the prayer stations which have been set up for the children. Finally after school on Monday the Friends will hold their 2nd film night of the year for children in Ribblesdale and Dentdale.

On Tuesday Miss Lyon’s from St Aidan’s PE department will be working with Swaledale and Dentdale classes. In the afternoon we look forward to welcoming Louisa from the NSPCC who is coming back to thank the children for their fundraising efforts on behalf of the society.

On Wednesday Dentdale and Swaledale will be enjoying a healthy eating workshop led by Mellors our catering team. After school is the final week of our Yr3/4 football matches at Harrogate High School. At 6pm the music service, Music for Schools, will be holding an information evening at school for parents interested in their children learning a brass instrument.

On Thursday Mellors will be back to lead a healthy breakfast workshop with Nidderdale Class.

The week ends with Ian Johnson from ‘Seeds for Schools’ returning to RTS to plant spring bulbs with the children from Coverdale Class. Ian did a great job with the children last year and we are delighted that he has returned to work with us this year.

I would also like to that ADSA and their community champion Angela Smith. They have donated 50 pumpkins for the school, whilst we don’t celebrate Halloween we will be carving friendly faces into our pumpkins; look out for some super photos after half term.

During half term the team from Sporting Influence will be running a holiday club on the school field. Booking information can be found on the school notice board and in every class window.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful half term and I look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Tuesday 1st November. Please remember Monday 31st October is a staff training day.
