We are only at the start of the 2nd week of the summer term but we have already squeezed a great deal into the term already. As you will be aware the school underwent it’s section 8 Ofsted Inspection on Tuesday 25th April, thank you to everyone who completed the parent view questionnaire or who spoke directly to the lead inspector. The report will be published in due course with a copy sent to every parent.

Also last week the school took part in its first sporting competition of the term at the Harrogate School’s Orienteering event. All of the children performed brilliantly but I am delighted to say that the year five girls team won their event and will receive their certificates this week. Thanks to both Mrs Sanderson and Mrs Warburton who led the teams.

Thanks to all of the parents who attended Thursday’s Friends meeting. The Friends will be at the Gala on Monday with their chocolate tombola, please come and have a go if you are coming along. If you are reading this before Monday there is still time to join the walking parade with the school, just come along and join Mrs Crisell and myself at the start point by 12 O’clock on Monday.

This week is a very busy week even though it starts on Tuesday, we welcome Amy Lyons from St Aidan’s who will be taking PE sessions with three classes. In the afternoon and after school we will be holding an extended Choir practice with our friends from Bilton Grange as we prepare for the joint concert with the Harrogate Male Voice Choir. After school Mr Starkey will be taking the Tag Rugby Team to their much postponed tournament at Harrogate Rugby Club.

After School on Wednesday children from Yr3/4 will be heading to Harrogate Golf Club to take part in the schools ‘try-golf’ competition. On Thursday the school will be holding a special spring half-price book sale during the afternoon, the children will also be able to use their £1 book voucher making the books a real bargin.

I am sure that you will join with me in wishing both Mrs Simpson and Mrs Phelan speedy recoveries from their on-going illness; we hope to welcome them back to school very soon.

Finally the week beginning Monday 8th May is the first day of the national tests for children in year six. We wish everyone good luck in these important tests.

The photographs of all our yellow jersey winners will appear in next weeks blog.

A Symonds
