Welcome back to what is always one of the busiest and most exciting terms of the year. I would like to start by welcoming Mrs Dallaston to the staffing team as she joins the school as a new member of our support staff.

Congratulations to Mrs Crisell who has been in Portugal at the European Schools’ Science Conference. On Sunday she was awarded 2nd place and highly commended in the school’s category for the work done in collaboration with our Italian partner school. I look forward to hearing all about it when she returns this week.

This week is the week of the scholastic book fair in school; the children will have an opportunity to look at the books during the week with the book fair taking place in the hall on Thursday afternoon for children and after school for parents. A percentage of all sales goes to the school allowing us to buy new books for our class libraries.

On Tuesday we welcome Rev Andy Patrick to school to lead our worship time. On Wednesday the children from Wensleydale Class will be visiting The Woodfield Library to take part in an English Workshop. The school council will have their second meeting of the year on Tuesday afternoon.

Thursday is global outdoor classroom day and so you can expect many of our classes to be learning outside during the day at school. Thursday lunchtime sees the yr5/6 craft club starting again in the library.

Friday sees the Eco Ambassadors holding their latest meeting and the Friends Prayer Group meeting in the staffroom at 2.30pm, all are welcome to join.

After school on Friday week three of chess club will take place in school.

Advanced notice that on the morning of Saturday 23rd November there are two events taking place at school. We have an open garden morning for parents and friends to come along and help us tidy and weed our new wildlife garden in preparation for the winter. At the same time we are hosting the Harrogate Schools’ Chess Championships for the 2nd year in a row.

Finally, I am completing the 5K Skipton Santa Run on Sunday 24th November; I am aiming to raise some money to fund the work of a children’s mental health worker at RTS. If you would like to sponsor me forms will be in the school office, any amount however small will be very gratefully received for a good cause that will benefit the children at RTS.

The photo’s below show the last yellow jumper winners of the previous half term and Mrs Crisell receiving her science award in Portugal.
