I hope that everyone has had a great half term break and is ready for a busy 2nd half of the autumn term 2018.
Before we look ahead to the week ahead I have a number of messages to pass on which I hope you will find useful.
On the last day before the half term break all of the children completed the NSPCC sponsored fun run organised by the children in year six. As soon as you have collected you sponsor money the children can return their envelopes to school. The team from the NSPCC will be returning to collect the sponsor money and hand out badges later in the term.
Something else to return is your completed parental questionnaire, they are really useful for us as a school to ensure we know how we can help our children in the year ahead. Parents of children in EYFS will be given questionnaires at their upcoming parents’ consultation sessions.
I am delighted to say that Miss Robertson will begin her phased return to school this week, working alongside Miss Sherwood and Mrs Norman in Airedale.
Please remember to send in your glass jars at the start of the week. The children across KS2 will be decorating them this week in preparation for the special exhibition at St Wilfred’s Church at the end of the week to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One.
Finally, if you have decorated a poppy please remember to return it as soon as possible so that we can add it to our hall display for Remembrance Day 2018.
On to the week ahead, on Monday morning we welcome Claire Bassindale from St Aidan’s to lead PE sessions with a number of classes in the hall. It is a special Bonfire Lunch followed by our worship time which will see groups from Mrs Else’s violin group performing for the rest of the children at school. After school our year 5/6 football team will be taking part in the tournament being held at St John Fisher High School, good luck to our team.
On Tuesday our annual book fair arrives at school in preparation for the book fair afternoon on Thursday, all of the classes will have the opportunity to look at the books prior to the event on Thursday. After lunch we welcome Andy Patrick to lead our worship time.
On Wednesday our school council will be meeting at 1pm and after school a different group of year 5/6 children will be taking part in week one of the Sporting Influence Football games at Harrogate High School.
After school on Thursday it is week one of our chess club, later in November the school will be hosting the Harrogate School’s Chess Championship.
On Friday afternoon we will be holding our own very special remembrance worship time for the whole school which will include our 2 minutes silence.
After school we are very happy to be hosting the Bilton Methodist Chapel Quiz Evening at school.
The photographs below show, children enjoying our sponsored fun run and meeting our inspirational guest speaker and ex pupil Ben Davis. The last photograph is Coverdale Class helping the Rotary Club to plant 7,000 crocus bulbs in Walker’s Passage before half term.
