Welcome back to the 2nd half of the Spring Term, I hope that everybody has enjoyed the half term and the signs that spring is just around the corner. We have a very busy six-week period up until the half term break. Monday is an important day for the whole school as we welcome Mrs Rothera back to Bishopdale Class following her maternity leave.
This week we welcome the team from St John’s who will be leading our ‘Shrove Tuesday’ worship time.
On Thursday the Friends will be holding their Spring Term Disco. The disco runs in three stages with EYFS & Yr1 children attending between 3.30pm and 4.30pm; Yr2,3 and Yr4 children between 4.45pm and 5.45pm; the final disco for Yr5 and Yr6 is 6pm till 7pm. Entrance to the disco will be through the main entrance.
There are lots of clubs starting again including a brand-new film making club with Miss Hamer on Wednesdays; Chess Club also returns on Friday after school.
Next Week is the start of Fairtrade Fortnight 2023 and we will be looking at where some of our favourite foods come from and learning about the lives of the people who grow them.
Also Thursday 2nd March is World Book Day. This is a dressing up day for all those children who wish to dress and their favourite book character, children can also choose to wear pyjamas and bring their favourite book into school. The day will be full of activities celebrating the joy of reading; every child in school will be presented with their £1 book voucher on the day.
The next official day of strike action named by the NES is Tuesday 28th February. I will be informing all parents in good time if RTS will be affected by the planned action.
The children at RTS have been deeply moved by the images of children affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, they would like to plan a simple fundraiser in the near future and I will let parents know what the children agree to do.
The photos below show former pupil Millie Rowlands who returned to school to present us with the gift of a new buddy bench. The 2nd photo shows the last yellow Jumper winners of the last half term.
