Well done everyone – we’ve made it to the end of the first week back! It can feel quite overwhelming after a break to get back into a routine with learning, but I have been so impressed with the engagement in tasks this week!

Our story this week has been ‘Whatever Next’. You have written some incredible post cards using your phase 3 phonics from Baby Bear on the moon to Mummy and I really enjoyed seeing you join in with some space themed yoga this week. In Phonics we have been learning two new tricky words: said and so. In Maths we have been having a go at doubling numbers to 10. For your art task you were challenged to make a rocket. Here are some of your amazing creations:

This week we have also had a focus on the environment and the positive impacts that the current lock down has brought.
One of the tasks you did this week was to take some time listening to the birds. You listened carefully to the different sounds they were making, tried to figure out how many different sounds you could hear, tried to spot the birds making the sounds and had a go at recreating the noises yourself. Here are some picture from some of the children listening out for birds this week:

On Earth Day I challenged you to find things made out of plastic and to see how you could reuse some of the items you found. You had some amazing ideas! I saw bird feeders, musical instruments and many different ideas to create new toys and crafts. Here are a few:

From next week, there will be phonics lessons, presented by different celebrities, available here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP_FbjYUP_UtldV2K_-niWw/featured?disable_polymer=1
At 10AM, lessons appropriate for Reception learning in the Summer term will go live. At 11AM, there will be a learning to blend session for children who need extra practise with words such as ‘tap’ and ‘cat’. You don’t have to tune in at that time specifically, as the videos will stay on the channel once they’ve been uploaded to be accessed at any time. Please don’t feel that you have to access these lessons but they are available if you would like them.

Thank you again for all of your engagement with learning. I look forward to more next week!
Miss Sherwood
