British Values

British Values at Richard Taylor School

british-values

As a school we are proud of the values that we have chosen to live by.

The nine values, chosen by the children, that we promote are:

Friendship

Trust

Respect

Determination

Sportsmanship

Peace

Forgiveness

Responsibility

Service

We have a mission statement which in the words of our children states that Richard Taylor School is a place where all children find friendship, make progress, have responsibility and are loved by God.

Our children are part of a country with a long tradition of promoting a set of positive values. We recognise that if our children are going to grow into active citizens they need to understand what these core British values are.

What does it mean to be British?

Brit-Values

The Wordle above contains many of the words that we consider to make us British.

Our Children recognise many of these words but need to be given the chance to explore the core values further.

The core British values which we promote are:

Democracy

Liberty

Tolerance

Respect

Law.

The values which Britain is proud to represent are not exclusive or designed to isolate us from the rest of the world.

Instead they are values which have created the stable, inclusive society which we wish our children to grow up in.

They are values which we should be proud to promote across the world.

We teach our children the importance of living by these values and playing their role as active citizens in a modern Britain.

Our Work.

Every child at RTS has the opportunity to explore and talk about these values and think about what they mean to us.

The work below shows examples of this work produced by the children in school.
