Welcome to another busy week at RTS.

I know many people will be concerned by the possible impact of strike action announced by the NEU for Wednesday 1st February. I will be writing to all parents early this week to outline the school’s response to the strike, thank you for your patience whilst I liaise with staff.

This week is national storytelling week and some of the children from Nidderdale Class will be visiting the Cuttings residential home on Tuesday afternoon to share some of their favourite stories with the residents.

This week we will also be using a very special pack of resources created for children in KS2 by the Specialist Consultant Rosaria Bucccoliero. The project aims to make children aware of some of the challenges faced by the elderly. I am sure that the children will find the activities planned very interesting and will really help the to understand how they can talk to the elderly.

On Tuesday we also look forward to enjoying the worship time led by the team from the Gospel Hall, which is always entertaining.

Friday is Holocaust Memorial Day and as part of their study of World War Two the children in Wharfedale and Wensleydale will be learning more about this important subject.

The members of the Local Governing Body have a busy week with committee meetings on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Friday is Bags2School collection Day, if you have unwanted clothes, please leave them in the identified collection point in the car park.

If you have not yet completed your online parental questionnaire, please take the time to share your views with the school before the deadline closes. This week we are asking the children to think of three words that best describe our school, please ask them which words they have chosen and why.

Last week the children from Coverdale represented the school wonderfully when they visited the Harrogate Hebrew Synagogue, they were praised by the community for their interesting questions and wonderful behaviour. The photos below were taken on the visit.

Finally, congratulations to Jo and her kitchen team who were awarded a five-star rating following their unannounced inspection.
