This week and next we are reading ‘The Polar Bear and the Snow Cloud’. In the story, one of the snow animals floats away from the Polar Bear. We have been experimenting in school with items that float and sink.

In phonics we have been focusing on j, v, w and x. We have also been recapping all of our phase 2 sounds – learning their letter names as well as the sounds. Luckily we know all of their letter names already as we all enjoy singing the alphabet song!
In mathematics we have been exploring our number bonds to 5. We are now becoming much more confident in our knowledge that 5 can be split into 2 plus 3 as well as 4 plus 1.

This term I have sent home a footsteps sheet. Please feel free to share with us on it any of your child’s out of school achievements. This could be something small such as trying a new food, or something larger like learning to swim. When they come back into school we can celebrate them with your child. I will aim to send home a new blank sheet on the return of a completed one. If you do need extra – please ask any time.
Show and tells for Friday 17th January
are Cillian, Clara and Dylan. Please talk with your child about what they want to bring in so they have lots to tell us about it.
