I would like to start the week by thanking all of those parents and friends who supported our year six children during their wonderful performance of ‘Porridge’ last week. The children were fantastic and it was great to see a hall full of parents and grandparents again.

Next week is another non-stop week at RTS. On Tuesday the high school transition days begin with children moving to HGS visiting their new school. Transition visits for each of the schools vary during the week but the majority of our year six are out of school on Thursday.

Also on Tuesday, Mrs Sowden and her violin group will be performing to parents after school with the concert in the hall starting at 6pm

Tuesday at 3.15 will see the re-arranged open classroom event for parents to come into their child’s classroom and look at the work that they have been doing this year. If for any reason you are unable to attend your child’s books will be sent home at the end of the year so you will see what they have been up to .

On Wednesday the school’s gardening club will be visiting the Great Yorkshire Show where their veg box has made it to the final of this years competition. The children have worked incredibly hard and their box looks amazing. See the photo below, everything in the box has been grown by the children from seed. We wish the whole team well for the event and hope that they enjoy the show. From 1pm on Wednesday Mrs Wake will be holding another of her music workshops with the team from Kids Aloud.

Whilst the children from year six are visiting their new schools on Thursday our children will be moving to visit their new class teachers during the morning. Some of our new staff, Miss Hamer in Nidderdale and Mrs Leah in Dentdale will be joining us.

After school on Thursday the children in year six will be back to enjoy their leavers disco with Mr Shuffles from 6pm.

The highlight of the coming week will be the special music concert at Constance Green Hall, St Aidan’s High School for Mrs Wake starting at 2.30. Mrs wake is arranging a rehearsal at RTS on Saturday morning in preparation for what will be a very special occasion.

The photos below show our veg box and some of the children from Nidderdale who worked with Airedale last week. The QR code takes you to some of Ribblesdale Class who tell you about their trip to Butterfly World Leeds last week.
