Before we begin looking at the final week of the autumn term we need to congratulate a very special competition winner. Many of the children entered the Christmas card competition run by Andrew Jones, the MP for Harrogate and Ripon. Martha from Wharfedale class was chosen as the winner and Andrew came to school on Friday 10th December to present Martha with a framed copy of her design. Martha’s card will be sent far and wide including to the Prime Minister himself!

The last week of term is full of special events, On Tuesday 14th December at 6pm the choir will be holding their carol concert outside in the junior playground. Parents attending are asked to wear masks when on site and be aware of social distancing. Mrs Wake has recommended bringing a camping chair for comfort. Please wrap up warm if you are coming along. We will be keeping a close eye on predicted weather conditions which currently forecast a dry evening. The situation regarding Covid-19 can change rapidly in school and we continue to be guided by advice from the Public Health Team. If the risk of infection spread was to become more significant we would be forced to re-assess the viability of the event but, as things stand we are looking forward to a very festive event.

On Wednesday the children will hold a key stage one and key stage two Christmas Hopes worship. This is a wonderfully quiet and reflective service where the children share their hopes and prayers for others at home and around the world who they wish to think about.

On Thursday we will be holding two Carol Services at St John’s. The children from KS2 will be holding their service at 10am with the children from KS1 holding their service at 11am. The number of children and staff attending this service means that sadly we cannot invite parents to join us. We are working with the team at St John’s to arrange for the service to be broadcast to the parents who wish to share in the celebration.

The infant nativity was recorded on Thursday last week and is available on the school’s you tube site until 31st December. Parents should have received the link on Friday 10th December.

We will end the term with two carols around the tree events on Friday afternoon. Mr David Sanderson, our retired Chair of Governors will be joining us as we make a presentation to thank him for his hard work and service to the school over a number of years.

Please be aware that as the Covid-19 situation develops over the Christmas period we will communicate with you any implications for the operating systems at RTS.

Before we have to worry about what January will bring I would like to thank you all for your support this term and on behalf of everyone at RTS wish you a safe and joyful Christmas.

Mr Symonds

The QR code shows children from Nidderdale Class telling you what they have enjoyed at school this week. The photos below show some of the children enjoying Christmas jumper day at school, thank you to everyone who donated to such a good cause.

Merry Christmas
