The last week of a short but busy half term is full of exciting learning opportunities and experiences for the children at RTS.

On Monday the children from Ribblesdale and Dentdale Classes will be visiting the Mosque in Leeds during the morning. It is a trip that the classes have kindly invited me to join and one I always look forward to. The community at the Mosque always make the children feel welcome and it is a learning experience full of respect, one of the school’s core values.

Back at School we welcome Martin Powell from North Yorkshire Police who will be talking to all of the children at Key Stage Two on Monday morning about the Importance of staying safe online. In the afternoon on Monday our gardening club will be meeting Mr Groves as they care for the vegetables that they will be growing in our veg box. On Thursday morning this week they will meet with the judging team from the Yorkshire Show to talk about their plans and hopefully qualify for the finals at the show in July.

Tuesday sees Mrs Crisell and RTS hosting a Sublime Science event led by the Ogden Trust partnership and involving a number of partner schools from across Harrogate.

On Tuesday afternoon the children from Nidderdale Class will welcome visitors to school for a special Platinum Jubilee Community Tea, this will include visitors from The Cringles Care Home who were featured on Look North when we visited them.

Tuesday afternoon will also se the children enjoying a special worship time prepared by the team from Woodfield Gospel Hall.

On Thursday as well as our Veg Box Judging we welcome Kate Lounds, our external advisor who will be working with a range of classes through the morning.

Friday sees the Children from Ribblesdale Class enjoying their Outdoor Learning Day as part of their Forest School Work.

On Friday afternoon the school will be celebrating the Platinum Jubilee with an afternoon of special activities leading to a special tree planting and garden party for the children with Jo preparing a special jubilee cake.

I hope that everyone has an enjoyable Jubilee half term and comes back ready for the start of a very busy final half term of the year.

Please remember that Monday 6th June is a school training day and the new half term begins for children on Tuesday 7th June.

The photos below show the children from Yr6 enjoying their field trip at Scargill House last week, there are lots more photos on the school’s website to enjoy.
