We have made it to the last week of a very busy half term at RTS and there is a lot happening at school this week.

We are delighted to welcome Mrs Owen back to school following her absence, I’m sure that the children in Bishopdale will be delighted to see her back.

After school on Monday the choir will be visited by Guy Wilson as they continue their preparations for the next Kids Aloud Concert.

Tuesday is national Safer Internet Day. The challenge of keeping our children safe online is one of the most important that we face. Please read the school newsletter this week which will include the Internet Safety newsletter with lots of useful links. If you would like to learn more please take a look at the safer internet day website Safer Internet Day 2023 – UK Safer Internet Centre At school we be leading additional age appropriate lessons on this subject as well as worship times to focus on this subject.

On Wednesday the kitchen team will be serving a special Valentines Lunch for the children, we welcome Niki Hutchinson, one of our hardworking governors as she visits Nidderdale as her nominated class. After school the governors will be holding their Spring Term Meeting and we will be welcoming the team from Community Fit who will be jogging to school to carry out some voluntary work in school.

On Thursday we will be holding the first Space Camp of 2023 when the children from Coverdale get the chance to enjoy an evening of astronomy and the chance to camp in the school hall followed by bacon sandwiches in the morning. Special thanks to Mrs Crisell and the staff volunteers who will be giving up their evening to work with the children.

Mrs Rothera will be continuing her return to school on Thursday and Friday, when she will spend more time getting to know the children in Bishopdale.

Well done to the children from Nidderdale Class whose visit to the Cuttings in the previous week has featured in lots of local news articles including the one below.

Please look out for the after-school clubs sign up letters that will be advertising the range of clubs taking place after half term.

It is a sign of spring that the children in KS1 have spotted the first snowdrops of the year growing in the raised bed planters. I hope that everyone can have an enjoyable spring term. School reopens on Monday 20th February.
