Richard Taylor School alongside our partners in the Yorkshire Causeway Schools Trust joins the nation in mourning the loss of Her Majesty The Queen.

Her selfless devotion to her country and the Commonwealth serves as an inspiration to us all.

We give thanks for her happy and glorious reign and extend our sincere condolences to The Royal Family.

As a school we celebrated her Jubilee in the summer, and we will remember her incredible life of service and duty together over the coming days and weeks.

Today the school has opened a book of condolence in the entrance which parents are welcome to contribute to.

On Friday the children will be taking part in a special service of reflection and commemoration in the Hall to mark the service of the Queen to our nation over seventy years.

Every child will have the opportunity to contribute to our book of condolence during the day.

For parents who are interested St John’s Church will be open on Friday 9th September between 9am and 5pm for anyone wishing to send time in quiet reflection.

On Sunday the planned Education Service will be replaced by an act of remembrance and thanksgiving for the life of the queen, all are welcome to attend.

I will keep all parents informed in the coming days as we enter a period of national mourning regarding implications for schools when the date of the Queen’s state funeral is confirmed.

May she rest in peace and rise in glory.

God Save the King
