Dear Parents

Summer Letter 6

Important Staffing News

I am writing to inform you of a change to the organisation of staffing for Airedale Class in 2016-2017. As you are aware, the school had made arrangements to reorganise staffing as a result of Mrs Beetham’s promotion to a post in the Channel Islands.

The governing body received notification from Mrs Beetham on Tuesday that, as a result of unforeseen circumstances, she had, with regret, had to withdraw her acceptance of the new post.

Mrs Beetham subsequently asked the governors to accept the withdrawal of her letter of resignation. As no appointment had yet been made and based upon her experience and dedication to the role over a number of years, this was accepted.

To ensure that the school made best use of the skills and experience available within the early years and Key Stage One, the decision has been made to place Mrs Beetham in Airedale Class and place Mrs Heard and Mrs Ritchie in Ribblesdale Class, for the start of the new academic year.

Sainsburys Vouchers

Thank you to everyone who has been collecting Sainsburys Vouchers over recent weeks. We use these vouchers to bring in much needed sports equipment. Special mention must go to Mrs Onslow who has undertaken the huge task of counting the vouchers received.

‘Ye-Ha’

Thank you to everyone who supported the Year 6 musical performance ‘Ye-Ha’. Everyone who was there agreed that it was an amazing performance. Congratulations to all of the children for their efforts. A special mention must go to Mrs Simpson for her hard work as director.

National Testing Results

You may have noticed headlines regarding this year’s tests at the end of Key Stage 2, Year 6. National results show that 53% of pupils nationally have achieved the raised standard in reading, writing and maths. This is an indicator of the significant nature of the challenge that our children have faced. The children will receive their individual results shortly but I am delighted to say that we are very clearly above national results in every subject and in a number of areas we are significantly above national comparison. Congratulations to our children and staff for all of their hard work this year.

Parent Pay

We will be changing our payment system from Sims Agora to Parent Pay from September. You will receive information by post at the end of August. Please make sure you are set up before the start of school. This will be the only method of payment available – cash and cheques will not be accepted in September. You may already be used to using Parent Pay if you have children at a local secondary school. In any case we feel it will be easier to use than the current system.

Leavers Service

This year’s Leavers Service’ will take place at St. John’s Church at 10.30 a.m. on Tuesday 26th July. School closes at 2.15 p.m. on Tuesday 26th July as we begin the summer holidays.

Choir News

Our hardworking choir and orchestra will be holding their final concert, A Summer Serenade, for family and friends on Tuesday 19th July at 6.00 p.m.

Finally, as we approach the end of a busy and highly successful year, I would like to thank everyone for their help and support. We, as a school, have a great deal to celebrate and I look forward to starting again in September 2016. School opens for the new year on Tuesday 6th September.

Yours sincerely

Andrew Symonds
