Welcome to ‘Amazing Airedale’, a mixed year group class comprised of the youngest Year 1 children and the oldest Reception children.
Our teacher, Miss Robertson, is supported by Mrs Rodney (Monday-Wednesday) and Miss Young (Thursday – Friday). Mrs Hussain, who is a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, teaches every Monday afternoon.
Learning is an active, fun journey of discovery whether in our classroom, or one of our two fabulous outdoor areas, one shared with Bishopdale and one shared with Ribblesdale. We particularly look forward to Big Toys outside on a Friday. This year we will be taking our learning beyond the school environment as we visit the local allotments, Harlow Carr, the Nidd Gorge and Fountains Abbey.
Airedale children join with Bishopdale children to explore and nurture their outdoor environment in weekly group work on ‘Green Finger Fridays’. Every half term Airedale children join their friends in Ribblesdale for a day focussed around developing literacy skills, stimulating the imagination and nurturing wellbeing. The focus book this year will be Stanley’s stick. Afternoon group activities adopt a Forest School style.
The children bring home a home/school book weekly informing parents about weekly learning focus areas and suggesting ways to support learning at home.
